Banned for posting nude pictures, Sherlyn hits back
The actress has become the first celebrity from India, who has been banned by the micro-blogging site. A few days back, Chopra posted some of her nude pictures on Twitter. Many people objected to her images forcing her to take the pictures off from her profile. A rights group in Mumbai also threatened Sherlyn with legal action. According to a source, “Sherlyn has used her Twitter account (@SherlynChopra) as a medium of exhibition. The number of her followers increased everyday with the public display of her nude pictures. Some of the followers, claiming to be social activists, however, condemned these provocative pictures.” The source added, “They threatened her online saying that an FIR will be filed against her. These followers also informed Twitter about the act and lodged a formal complaint against her. Now, she has been asked by the site not to upload such bold images.” Reacting on this, the sizzling Sherlyn said, “My images are not at all suggestive but yes, they are sensual. Have we lost the freedom of expression? Being an Indian girl, I know my morals.” Well Sherlyn, we all have freedom of expression but we often misuse it or just do not know how to use it properly! |

Things you never knew about Neetu Chandra
She rides motorbikes, though she banged the last one! She sings quite well and plays the harmonium. Now, she's learning to play the flute, as well as the tanpura. She's the only Bollywood actress hailing from Bihar. If you are thinking she's a multi-faceted personality, this could just be the beginning. Here's re-introducing the all-new Neetu Chandra. What's more! Having lost around 10 kgs of weight recently, the girl has started looking like a diva. With a new-found sparkle and figure, Neetu is taking life head on. “I've learnt to enjoy the process called life,” she says philosophically. “When you start painting on life's canvas, it's important to throw all the paint on it; all the colours with its bright as well as dull shades. Only when you give your all to life, does it start responding with vibrancy,” she adds. Neetu has done varied roles and received critical acclaim for films like 'Traffic Signal', 'Garam Masala', 'Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!', '13B', 'Rann' and 'Apartment'. She'll be seen in Anees Bazmee's 'No Problem' next. We are closely marking her moves, while loving her new words of wisdom. |
Kareena blindly trusts me
"Kareena has been wanting to work with me for quite a long time. But due to some reasons we have not been able to team up. She blindly trusts me and my talent and the feeling is mutual," said Bhandarkar.
The film, which will start shooting in December, is already making a buzz with reports that Bhandarkar is planning to give Kareena the iconic looks of Hollywood's legendary actresses like Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe, Vivien Leigh and Eva Gardner.
"This is going to be Kareena's best performance of her life. I can guarantee that. She is a talented artist and she will be in her full bloom in this one," Bhandarkar said.
The 41-year-old director, who studied film-making during his stint as a video cassette delivery boy, says that covering women issues has always been his priority and a trade mark of Bhandarkar's cinema.
"People in industry are afraid to raise these issues. They think that it would not generate any interest in the audience. But I am here to prove this notion wrong.
All my films have had strong women characters and they have been liked by people," Bhandarkar said. Talking of strong female characters, Bhandarkar proudly states that his heroines always thank him for giving such power packed roles.
But before he starts on another woman centric film, Bhandarkar is gung-ho about his debut comedy Dil To Bachcha Hai Ji, inspired by Gulzar's lyrics in the film Ishqiya.
Working with a new and unusual star cast in Ajay Devgan, Emraan Haashmi and Omi Vaidya of 3 Idiots' fame, Bhandarkar says the film is his tribute to movie maverick Hrishikesh Mukherjee and ensures that the audiences are in for a surprise.
"Ajay is playing a husband, having constant nok jhonk with his wife, Emraan plays a carefree casanova while Omi's character is a surprise," the director said. The filmmaker is still on a lookout of heroines for his film and if everything goes as planned, audiences would get a taste of Madhur's comedy in December this year.

Madhur Bhandarkar is all set to perform Operation Salvage on Shruti Haasan's career. In what is quite clearly a manoeuvre to give the mighty Kamal Haasan's daughter the commercial boost that Soham Shah's Luck could not Madhur Bhandarkar has signed her to play a key role in his first comedy Dil To Bachcha Hai Ji. Self-admittedly a huge fan of Kamal Haasan, Madhur says, “Shruti has met me some months ago expressing the desire to work with me. I though she would suit part opposite Emran Hashmi perfectly.” Though not willing to admit that Kamal Haasan had any hand in Shruti's presence in the comedy, Bhandarkar does admit that he's agreat fan of the actor. “Kamalji is a legend. And I can't say the thought of working with his daughter did not pass through my mind. However I must add that Shruti is a very bright pretty and talented girl. She's bound to go far.” Shruti's career had come to a standstill with a film ironically called Luck. Maybe it will change, not that the daughter's ball of destiny is now in papa Kamal Haasan's court. |

"I am sure I can dance better than most other actresses in the film industry. But it's just that they get the chance to show their moves, " Neetu told on phone from her hometown Patna. "Unfortunately, my choice of films has been such that they hardly have any scope for dancing numbers. But I have a long way to go and I am just waiting to get a spicy song. "I would love to do a commercial dance number and move like Jennifer Lopez and Shakira. Their style is lovely. And any such change would be great fun for me, " she added. The actress, who received rave reviews for her performances in National Award winning films like "Traffic Signal" and "Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!", learnt Kathak in school and is currently taking lessons in western dancing. Neetu is a huge Madhuri Dixit fan and says she would love to dance on songs like "Choli ke peechhe". "She was a class apart. The kind of music came in her days is no longer composed in the industry. Songs like 'Choli ke peechhe' and 'Dhak dhak karne lagaa' were amazing. I would have loved to perform on those numbers. I know I can never be Madhuri Dixit, but even if people say I'm 10 percent of her, I would feel my efforts have paid off, " she said. Among the latest numbers, the 33-year-old says she she could have done a good job in songs like "Chhaliya Chhaliya" and "Happening", originally performed by Kareena Kapoor and Preity Zinta respectively. Don't you fear being tagged as an item girl after featuring in an item song? "I can never be tagged as an item girl because I have lost that opportunity. I never got a chance to dance. I hope filmmakers cast me for a dance number soon. All seven films that I have done have been performance based. There was no space for me to do any dance in them, " she said. But Neetu will do an item nunber only if the script will demand so. "All actresses - Aishwarya, Preity Zinta, Rani Mukerji - have all done item numbers. They can dance, but they did it only when the script required it. So I would love to do it when a script requires me to do it. I am not afraid of being put into an image of an item girl - because I keep breaking my own image with every film." Her forthcoming projects are "Khusar Parsad Ke Bhoot", Anees Bazmee's "No Problem" and Barnali Shukla's "Kuch Love Jaisa". She also has a Tamil project in her kitty. |
Revealed: Cell Phone Phobias of the Bollywood Hotties
Revealed: Cell Phone Phobias of the Bollywood Hotties
So much so that even their secretaries or houseboys hardly dared to meddle with their telephonic chores unless their Sahabs or Madams were busy shooting outdoors. And those days the outdoor locales extended only as far as Kashmir, Shimla or Darjeeling. Thanks to the technological revolution today, stars can now be tracked down even if they are shooting in a remote corner of the world. Yet, they never felt as insecure as they do now. This has made the task of the film scribes much more difficult. The first thing they have to do to break the communication barrier is to get the latest cell numbers of the stars, which keeps on changing.. Time to unravel their cellular secrets. Let's begin with Jackie Shroff aka Jaggu Dada. He is the only star who has not changed his number after going mobile. Also, he makes it a point to answer all his calls with the same standard opening line, 'Haan bol biddu, kaise yaad kiya?' He could be at the other end of the globe, yet he patiently answers all his callers and assures that he would do the needful only on returning back home. One actress with an unusual phone phobia is Bipasha Basu {Bips!}. When yours truly, after several attempts, finally managed to track her on phone, she avoided prolonging the conversation saying: “You have caught me on a wrong day as I have been hospitalized for a serious ailment. I generally don't take calls, but if it's necessary just send me a SMS. I will definitely get back to you.” Definitely, Ms Bips! The story repeats for her hunky beefcake beau John Abraham. Every time I managed to get him on the mobile, he would give a similar excuse no matter what the time or the date. “You have caught me on a wrong day as I am in a hospital attending to a friend who has been hospitalized for a serious ailment. Besides I have made a conscious decision of not giving any interviews till my next release comes up.” Now, now guys you can put two and two together and draw your own conclusions. Okay! Then there are two other stars, who never take their calls directly Sunjay Dutt and Suniel Shetty unless they know a scribe on a one to one level. But for first timers and strangers, they see to it that the caller's message is not only delivered to them, but action is promptly taken. Sunjay Dutt's Man Friday not only receives the call, but also fixes up a proper appointment for you and rests only when he plonks you right in front of the Deadly Dutt. And the same holds true in case of Anna alias Suniel Shetty. Of course with his own Man Friday gracefully coordinating the whole affair. “Memsaab so rahi hain ji.” Queen Bee Rani Mukherjee and the ravishing Raveena Tandon too never answer their calls directly. The former makes her mother and the latter makes her secretary to do the needful. On the other hand the gorgeous Bollywoodian diva Rekha's Man oops Woman Friday Farzana does gets back to you only when you send her, first a detailed SMS and then your detailed requirements or rather the core of your story and that too funnily enough both on her pager! Mademoiselle Rekha and Farzana still seem to be living in Stone Age! Next, when I had tried to contact Faffy dear oops Aftab Shivdasani, he was holidaying alone, or so he wanted me or every caller to believe, in South Africa. So naturally his mobile had a recorded message. “Call my mom on…..” I did and then thankfully his mother Joyce Shivdasani not only attended my call, but also delivered my message on the South African hotel number of the 'Mast' and 'Masti' bhara actor. Who promptly called me back from his overseas sojourn and instantly fixed up the interview session for the day he would land up on the home terrain. So once he reached Mumbai he called me up on my cell and asked me too meet him up at the airport. The interview was done in his car on his way back home. But then trust Akki aka Akshay Kumar for his constant cellular pranks. The moment I dialed his number 'His Masters Voice' boomed in my ears, “ Hi! I'm Akshay Kumar and you know what to do?' Yes. I knew. I left a message for him in his voice mailbox and forgot about it. The next thing I knew was that his Woman Friday Ms Pooja started hounding me on my cell phone that too at unearthly hours for 'fixing' up an interview almost akin to a match-fixing syndrome. But alas! The interview never happened until I was on the verge of tearing my hairs apart. As in the meanwhile the action hero had safely left for one of his foreign shoots. And finally before I could heave a sigh of relief, Akki Baba gave me a midnight jolt by making an overseas apologetic call with the option, “Can we do a telephonic interview now?” Since I was already bugged by his pranks, I politely declined his generous 'overseas' offer then. The reward: An excellent vibing with him since then with no more mobile pranks repetition. So just as an absentee student lands up in school with a medical certificate first she and then Papa Oberoi always return my calls with an excusable cellular medical report on behalf of their always-recuperating Jr. Oberoi's sickly state of affairs. Until I had finally caught up with the healthy looking Vivek at a Mumbai premiere. Oberoi Baba clarified, “Don't you trust them? You see I have now been nicknamed a china doll, by one and all, as I keep having this great humpty dumpty fall.” Needless to say I was dumbfounded. So the ultimate analysis of the Bollywoodian stars Cell phone phobia is that after all these and more 'accidental' and typically funny, filmy cellular encounters I think that I have turned over a new leaf, from a veteran freelancing scribe to an amateur freelancing cellular jockey. Period! |
